SANTA ANA, Calif.– Oct. 28, 2019 - Orange County's Credit Union, a Santa Ana-based financial services provider with more than 116,000 Members, receives the Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award at this year’s California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues’ REACH Conference. The coveted award recognizes Orange County’s Credit Union’s ongoing efforts contributing to the success and future of small sized credit unions, also known as “Shapiro Group” credit unions, that have under $150 million in assets.
The Credit Union and CEO, Shruti Miyashiro, are recognized for their ongoing support of Allied Healthcare Federal Credit Union in Long Beach and Communidad Latina Federal Credit Union in Santa Ana. Specifically, Orange County’s Credit Union offers various resources including access to its training and workshops.
“For almost four years, Orange County’s Credit Union has provided AHFCU with access to its training portal for the Bank Secrecy Act, social engineering, elder abuse, and a host of other training modules, all pro-bono,” said Monica I. Lopez, CEO of Allied Healthcare FCU. “The organization has even offered for our staff to attend workshops at their corporate office. This generosity has helped us maintain expenses while providing top-notch training for our associates, which we would not be able to without their help. We are eternally grateful for their support of Shapiro credit unions.”
Lopez along with Erick Orellana, CEO of Communidad Latina FCU, nominated Orange County’s Credit Union for the prestigious award.
“Our philosophy at the Credit Union is ‘people helping people’ and this award is a testament to that belief. We take pride in supporting our community in many ways, and that includes extending resources to fellow credit unions,” said Miyashiro. “We’re honored to be nominated by two excellent organizations that we work with closely and are completely humbled to win the Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award.”
The Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award is presented annually at CCUL’s REACH Conference. Credit union leaders from across the nation gather at the conference to gain expert insight from keynote speakers and fresh perspectives from focused breakout sessions. Orange County’s Credit Union was honored as this year’s recipient in the organization category during the annual meeting and convention held Oct. 27-30 at the Monterey Conference Center in Monterey.
